Made For

Teams

Away from the inbox, away from the boardroom. A place small enough that real conversations happen without trying. We also host MICE groups, workations, and leadership offsites looking for something outside the usual conference-hotel setup.

Why This Works

Most offsites fail for a simple reason. You take the same people, put them in a room that looks like every other conference room, hand them an agenda, and expect something to change. Nothing does. The setting hasn’t actually shifted, just the location. People sit where they’d normally sit, defer to whoever they’d normally defer to, and the honest conversation that was supposed to happen runs out of time.

What actually changes people’s behaviour is unfamiliarity. A place where nobody has a fixed seat, nobody’s the person who always talks first, and the usual signals of rank (who has the corner office, who speaks last in meetings) simply don’t exist. A trail does this without even trying. You end up walking next to whoever you end up walking next to, and a two-hour walk to a waterfall produces better conversations than a two-hour workshop, mostly because nobody’s trying to make a point or manage how they’re perceived.

It also helps that there’s nowhere to retreat to. In an office, people can duck back to their desk, put on headphones, or hide behind a screen. Here, meals are shared, the fire is common, and by the second evening the usual professional distance has quietly worn off. Not because anyone forced it, but because there wasn’t another option.

What a Stay Looks Like

Mornings are unstructured enough for early risers to work from the verandah with a coffee before the day properly starts. The WiFi holds up, the light is good, and it’s quiet enough to actually think. Afternoons might be a trek, a slow walk, or a proper break in the agenda for people to just sit by the river. Evenings are shared meals and a fire, which tend to do more team-building than anything scheduled ever could. For leadership offsites and retreats, we’ll set aside a quiet space for the sessions that need one. A room, a lounge, a hall - whatever the group needs to actually sit and talk. For workations, most guests just need reliable wifi and a quiet corner. We make sure both are covered.

How We Can Help

Tell us the group size, the intent of the trip - offsite, workation, leadership retreat, MICE. And, how many days you have. We’ll help with room blocks, a workspace that actually works, meals timed around your sessions, and a cab on standby if the group wants to get out and walk. If you need a quiet corner for calls or a proper sit-down session, just tell us in advance and we’ll set it up.
